I completely agree with you, that they are venturing too far away from their strengths. This move will certainly be a turn off for a lot of users. Many people do not use Twitter primarily because <a href="http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/07/13/why-teens-arent-using-twitter/" title="Techcrunch" rel="nofollow">it does not feel safe to them</a>. Facebook's move to become more like Twitter could certainly be the beginning of the end for them. But I'm still waiting to see what might take their place.
